Pharmacology
The integration of fipronil and y-GABA receptor of central nerve cells in insects, blocks the chloride channel of nerve cells, thereby interfering the normal function of the central nerve, leading to death of insects and acarid due to super excitation of central nervous system.
Pharmacokinetics
A topical application of fipronil is distributed over the epidermis and binds to lipids in the hair follicles and sebaceous glands with minimal absorption. Over time, the drug is released from the epidermal reservoir to provide sustained activity. Fipronil could be systemically distributed and the metabolite of fipronil-sulfone, which excretes through the feces and urine with the remaining fipronil.

If licking occurs, a brief period of hypersalivation may be observed due mainly to the nature if the carrier. Among the extremely rare suspected adverse reactions, transient cutaneous reactions on the application site (skin discoloration, local alopecia, pruritus, erytherma) and general pruritus ir alopecia have been reported after use. Exceptionally, hypersalivation, reversible neurologic symptoms (hyperenthesua, depression, nervous symptoms), vomiting or respiratory symptoms have been observed after use. Once any of the above conditions occur, the treatment should not be continued.
